The APPG seeks to bring together Parliamentarians concerned with both the technical, and social science, of Agriculture. We seek to use our cross-party membership to improve support from the British Government for Farmers and other stakeholders in Developing Countries. We recognise the pivotal role that increased levels of agricultural research, and their outputs, can have in eliminating global poverty.

Inquiry

The APPG's recent Inquiry Report: Why No Thought For Food is available for download here.

In February 2009 the APPG on Agriculture and Food for Development launched its Parliamentary Inquiry into the UK's role in tackling the challenge of Global Food Security up until 2050.

Having received approximately 130 written submissions, in line with these guidelines, and taken oral evidence from some 36 witnesses, the Group is now in the final stages of preparing the report for its Parliamentary launch ahead of the FAO Food Security Summit in November and the COP 15 discussions in December. Once launched it will be submitted to UK Government Ministers and Shadow Ministers with appropriate portfolios for an official response.
